This 8-minute video exhibit played continuously for 11 years at Birch Aquarium at Scripps as an introduction to oceanography and the facility’s science museum. It won a CINE Golden Eagle award in the nonbroadcast science category and went on to win six other awards, including an international award at a festival in Lisbon, Portugal. About 70 percent of the program is licensed stock footage, but what makes it so significant are its concepts, visual impact, and soundtrack.
